Advanced Practice Provider II
Description
The Henderson County Department of Public Health is accepting applications for one full-time Advanced Practice Provider II (FNP or PA). The primary purpose of this position is to provide outpatient primary care for a full range of clinical services under the supervision of a licensed physician. The position provides services in the following categories: Prenatal Care, Family Planning, Child Health, STD and Communicable Diseases. Clients are primarily medically underserved and frequently present with multiple health problems and socio-economic issues requiring complex assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation skills. Work is performed in a public health clinic setting and documentation is in an Electronic Health Record system.
Schedule
Clinic operating hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm. Alternate or additional hours (including weekends and holidays) may be required during public health emergencies or to meet clinic or agency needs.
Qualifications
Thorough knowledge of techniques of interviewing. Medical and relevant history taking, principles and practices of general medicine and disease states as they relate to the area of work; thorough knowledge of health appraisal tools, laboratory tests and findings, advanced physical assessment, advanced pathophysiology, advanced pharmacology, and therapeutic procedures as related to the area of work; thorough knowledge and ability to plan a regimen of care based on assessment and findings; considerable knowledge of available resources and appropriate referral methods. Skills in performing clinical functions. Skill in assisting with routine surgical procedures. Ability to examine patients and detect abnormalities, ability to record accurately and completely all information necessary to evaluate and plan care and to convey this to the physician; ability to communicate orally; ability to teach and counsel individuals, families and groups in the areas of health maintenance, preventative medicine, and care of the sick; and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and to gain the confidence of patients and families and work effectively with them; some ability to plan and conduct in-service training programs. Work requires judgement in the application of accepted patient care protocols and medical guidelines in the area of assignment to determine appropriate course of action. Ability to train FNP/PA students from assigned universities.
Required Minimum Training and Experience
Licensed as a Physician Assistant by the North Carolina Medical board or approved to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Certified Nurse Midwife by the North Carolina Board of Nursing and the North Carolina Medical Board and one year of experience as an Advanced Practice Provider.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience that includes the care of pediatric, obstetric, gynecological patients, or practice in a Public Health Department. Experience with the insertion of intrauterine devices or implants.

Salary Grade: 87A Anticipated Hiring Range: $85,675.20 - $113,000.00 Benefit Eligible
