FEMA Assistance for Damaged Well and Septic Systems
North Carolinians who lost access to water through a private well or damaged septic system as a result of Hurricane Helene may be eligible for FEMA assistance.

Septic and Well Applications
Septic and well permits can be applied for online through the Citizen Portal. Please see the "Forms and Fees Schedule" page for more information on permitting fees.

Complaints
Environmental Health investigates septic and food/lodging complaints received from the public. Please note that all information received by this office, except for reports containing medical information, are public records and can be reviewed by anyone making a request to view the record. Environmental Health does not have authority to investigate bed bug or mold complaints except for in regulated facilities.
To file a septic nuisance complaint, please download and complete the Nuisance Complaint Form. Please note, a signature is required from the complainant for a septic investigation to occur. You may submit the form in-person or by mail to the address below, fax to (828) 697-4523 or e-mail to HCDPH_EnvHealth@hendersoncountync.gov.
