Park Technician I - Weekends
Duties and Responsibilities: This position performs general carpentry work; performs grounds maintenance such as seeding, fertilizing, mowing, and trimming of grasses on property; operates lawn and ground maintenance machinery; performs custodial duties; performs physically strenuous activities as required. This position also performs a variety of responsible semiskilled work in the maintenance of County buildings, grounds, parks and facilities; performs related work as required. Work is performed under regular supervision. Reports to the Park Maintenance Supervisor.
Qualifications: Knowledge of general grounds maintenance; knowledge of lawn and ground maintenance equipment; ability to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time; ability to operate and care for power equipment, tractors, and hand tools; ability to inspect and report needs for maintenance, supplies, and equipment repair; ability to safely and efficiently operate a motor vehicle; ability to independently adhere to a time schedule; ability to attend work regularly.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and experience in landscaping, athletics fields maintenance, and building maintenance trades.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid North Carolina driver’s license. Willing to obtain/possess a license issued by the North Carolina Department of Agriculture to apply pesticides and herbicides.
Pre-employment drug test, SBI Fingerprinting and background checks required of finalist applicants.
