Winter Pickleball League

As mentioned last week we will be conducting a Winter Pickleball League based on a format similar to Major League Pickleball. It will be a team-based league of a minimum of 4 players (2 men; 2 women) or up to a maximum of 6 players (3 women, 3 men or 4 women, 2 men).

Registration for the league will begin tomorrow November 19th and will be open to the first 12 teams that register. Registration is $80 per team and will close on December 15th at 5:00pm. Only the Team Captain will need to register the team and registration is IN-PERSON ONLY at our Administrative Office located on 708 South Grove Street between the hours of 8:30-5:00pm weekdays. When Captains register their team, they will need to turn in the following information: 1) Team Fee of $80 (check or credit card only); The Registration Fee and Team Information Sheet reserves your team’s spot in the league. The receptionist will then give the Captain a Roster Sheet that will need to be filled out and turned into Jason Powell or emailed to Jason Powell by January 6th. (jpowell@hendersoncountync.gov)

All Team Captains will be required to attend a Pre-Season meeting on Tuesday, December 16th at 6 pm in room 204 located in our Administrative Building. Game Schedules and League Rules/Procedures will be reviewed at this time.

Matches will begin on January 7th and will take place every Wednesday: Jan 7,14,21,28, Feb 4 (no matches due to Daddy Daughter Dance set-up), 11. Teams will play 2 Matches per night. Tournament will begin on February 18th and conclude on the 25th.

 

  • Match structure: A match consists of 4 games. The first two are gender-specific (men's doubles and women's doubles), and the third one is mixed doubles. Teams get 3 points for every win in the first three games. After the first 3 games are completed, there will be a 4th game called the BONUS ROUND.
  • The BONUS ROUND is also a Mixed Doubles game that will go to 11 points with RALLY SCORING (points are scored on every serve). The BONUS ROUND will also feature a player rotation where each of the four players rotates through for four rallies at a time.
    • Bonus points can be earned by each team in the BONUS ROUND
      • 3 bonus points for the win
      • 2 bonus points for winning by 6 or more points
      • 2 bonus points for losing by 5 or fewer points

Game structure

  • Teams: A team will consist of a minimum of four (2 men; 2 women) to six players (3 men; 3 women).
  • Regular season: During the regular season, all four games are played (Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles, Mixed Doubles, and Mixed Doubles BONUS ROUND)
  • Scoring: Games are played to 15 points (win by one), using side-out scoring. Teams switch ends when one team reaches 8 points (Side out scoring: Points are scored on your serve only and serve alternates between players).
  • Tournament: Pending the level of play and the number of teams participating, we will look at forming a Gold Division (Upper Level Teams Based from the Team Points Earned During The Regular Season) and Silver Division (Lower Level Teams Based from the Team Points Earned During The Regular Season). This format could change based on level of play and number of teams in the league.
  • Tournament Scoring/Format: TBD
  • Rally Scoring: will be used in the Bonus Round Match Only.
