Medicaid is required to assure transportation to medical appointments for all eligible individuals who need and request assistance with transportation. Transportation will be available if the recipient receives a Medicaid covered service provided by a qualified Medicaid provider (enrolled as a NC Medicaid provider). Medicaid only pays for the least expensive means suitable to the recipient’s needs.

State-County Special Assistance (For adult care home residents) 

State and County Special Assistance provides a cash supplement to low income individuals to help pay for room and board in residential facilities. These facilities include: 

Low Income Energy Assistance 

We will begin taking LIEAP applications for our priority group (households with individuals 60+ or disabled individuals received DAAS services) on December 10, 2025.

The Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) is a federally-funded program that provides for a one-time vendor payment to help eligible households pay their heating bills.

Friday, November 14th, full FNS benefits for the month of November were restored to beneficiaries. Depending on the time of month benefits are usually received, November FNS benefits may have been issued early. Please be advised that December benefits will be issued on their usual schedule. 

EA (EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE) 

The Emergency Assistance program is designed to assist families with emergency needs such as utility cut-off, eviction notice etc. Among other criteria, the household must have a child who meets the age requirements living with them and who is in their care, have income at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level and meet US Citizenship requirements.
