Events for Children at the Main Library
Birth – 5 Years Old
Bouncing Babies: This is a special program for babies ages 0 to 18 months. Activities include lap rhymes, songs, stories, and more. Each program lasts approximately 20 minutes and concludes with playtime and exploration.
Toddler Time: This program is for children 18 months to 3 years. Activities include stories, finger plays, songs, action rhymes, and more. Each program lasts approximately 30 minutes and concludes with a special craft kit for toddlers.
Preschool: This program is for children ages 3 to 5 years. Activities include stories, songs, flannel board stories, action rhymes, and more. Each program lasts approximately 30 minutes and concludes with a special craft kit for preschoolers.
Music and Movement Storytime: This interactive program is designed for children and their families. Activities include music, movement, flannel board stories, action rhymes, and more. Each program lasts approximately 30 minutes.
Sensory Play Hour: Join us as we use our five senses to experience a new kind of play time at the library! We will have multiple stations set up for families to move through. Sensory play can get messy, so please dress accordingly. This program is intended for children birth - 5 years old and their families.
Kindergarten – 5th Grade
4 O’Clock Club: This club is designed for children from kindergarten to 5th grade. Each week we do dive into something new: arts and crafts, STEM experiments, speakers, and so much more! The first Wednesday of each month is Let’s Build It!
Family Book Club: Family Book Club is for families who love reading and talking about books. Selections will be intended for families of children in grades K-5.
Garden Hour: Have fun getting your hands dirty taking care of the library garden while learning all about backyard biology. All ages are welcome.
Paws for Reading: Children can sign up to read to a therapy dog to practice reading their reading. Sessions are 15 minutes and children should have a book picked out prior to their appointment time. This program is offered at multiple Henderson County Library locations. Check the calendar or call your preferred library to sign up.
Family Storytime
Family Storytime is designed for children and their families. Activities include stories, songs, flannel board stories, action rhymes, and more. Each program lasts approximately 30 minutes and concludes with a special craft kit. Family Storytime is offered weekly at the Edneyville, Etowah, Fletcher, Green River, and Mills River Libraries.
