Farmland Preservation Coordinator

Duties and Responsibilities: This position manages Voluntary Agricultural District (VAD), Enhanced VAD, and agricultural conservation easement programs; Oversees enrollment, compliance, and record-keeping for conservation programs. This position also provides regular updates on Farmland Preservation efforts to local boards; Assist landowners with farmland succession planning; Perform other related duties as assigned. Work is performed under regular supervision. 

Qualifications:  Comprehensive knowledge of principles and practices of conservation easements process; thorough knowledge of the organization and functions of county government; ability to plan, coordinate, and supervise the work of others; ability to exercise sound judgment in analyzing situations and making decisions; ability to operate common office machines and computer required by the position; ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing; ability to attend work regularly.

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to: associate’s degree in natural resources, environmental science, soil science, agronomy, farm succession planning, or a related field, and three (3) or more years of increasingly responsible conservation easement and farm succession experience; OR an equivalent combination of related education and experience.

Preference will be given to individuals with active Farm Succession Coordinator Certification and/or bachelor’s degree in natural resources, environmental science, soil science, agronomy, planning, or a related field.
