Financial Reporting Accountant
Duties and Responsibilities: Prepares, reconciles, and reviews monthly, quarterly, and annual County reports in accordance with federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations; prepares, reviews, and maintains accurate records, reports, and files; files and retrieves materials as required. Performs complex accounting, financial reporting, and analysis; performs related work as required. Work is performed under regular supervision. Reports to the Finance Director.
Qualifications: Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), with emphasis in the areas of governmental accounting and financial reporting; accounting principles relating to all Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) statements; preparation of the Schedule of Expenditures of Federal and State Awards.
Demonstrates intermediate to advanced skill and competency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel. Ability to effectively apply general accounting principles to complex, specific situations. Ability to perform financial analysis and interpretation. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
General knowledge of the application of established accounting principles and practices to standard accounting transactions; general knowledge of established governmental and departmental accounting practices and procedures; general knowledge of modern office policies and procedures; ability to operate common office machines and computer required by the position; ability to type with accuracy at the speed required by the position; ability to keep accurate records and prepare reports; ability to attend work regularly.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in accounting or finance or related field, plus 5 years of job-related experience in accounting or finance; OR an equivalent combination of related education and experience.
A current active license as a Certified Public Accountant is preferred. CPA candidates will also be considered.
Preference will be given to individuals with previous governmental accounting and/or auditing experience.

Starting salary min: $58,714.50 - $90,000.00
Grade: 79A
Hiring salary will be determined based on qualifications and internal equity.
