Auxiliary Elections Assistant

Duties and Responsibilities: The Elections Director Assistant works under the general supervision of the Elections Director. The Elections Director Assistant performs professional, managerial, and administrative work for the Board of Elections and carries out all duties or responsibilities as assigned by the Elections Director.  Reports to the Elections Director of the Henderson County Board of Elections.  

 

Qualifications: Some knowledge of North Carolina General Statutes and Board of Election guidelines governing elections; Some knowledge of principles and practices of election programs and related laws, ordinances, standards, and regulations; Strong organizational and initiative skills; Considerable knowledge of the State Election Information Management System software; Ability to direct staff, interpret policies and regulations; Ability to direct election voting procedures, record keeping and reporting of programs and services; Ability to develop and maintain cooperative internal and external Departmental relationships; Ability to effectively communicate with others; Considerable knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment; Skill in computer operations and related equipment; Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with Board members, other employees, and the public; Attend required and mandated training, meetings, and conferences by the NC State Board of Elections and others approved by the Board.

 

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: Must be certified or obtain certification as a North Carolina Elections Administrator from the State Board of Elections within three years of appointment; Must become a notary in North Carolina within 2 years of appointment; Driving is an essential function of this position. To be considered, you must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.  If your driver’s license is from another state, you will be required to obtain and show proof of a valid NC driver’s license within 60 days of hire; Fingerprinting and background check are required; Work experience in North Carolina elections at the County staff level; Two (2) years of experience in elections preferred.
