Deputy Sheriff

The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office is currently accepting applications for Full Time Deputy Sheriff position in the Henderson County Sheriff Office Patrol Division.

 

Duties and Responsibilities: Performs law enforcement services to protect lives, property and the rights of the citizens of Henderson County on behalf of the Sheriff. Provides law enforcement services in accordance with federal, state and local laws and the Sheriff’s Office policies and procedures. Performs law enforcement duties in various assignments within the agency to include but not limited to Patrol, K9, Warrants, Civil Process, Swat Team, Animal Enforcement, Traffic Squad, Field Training, School Resource, Parks & Recreation, Department of Social Services and Housing Assistance divisions. Provides these services in a professional, courteous, compassionate, and fair manner. Performs duties involving high levels of personal danger. Performs duties with limited supervision and exercises independent discretion while addressing job related situations.

Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
  • Prior experience in law enforcement, investigations, or security work is beneficial.
  • Must comply with relevant Federal Emergency Management Agency incident command training appropriate to level.

Special Requirements:

  • Possession of Basic Law Enforcement Officer Certificate issued by the State of North Carolina in accordance with the North Carolina Sheriff’s Training and Standards Commission.
  • Must meet and maintain minimum qualifications for the position established by the Sheriff’s Office (as defined in the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office Standardized Training Requirements) and the State of North Carolina.
  • Must possess a valid North Carolina driver’s license.
  • Maintain any licensure required by additional assignment.
  • Must be Sworn Law Enforcement Officer

Salary Range:  $24.00 - $36.00 per hour
