Henderson County EMS is a progressive 911 EMS agency that currently staffs eight dual paramedic EMS units. The agency serves two local hospitals, one regional trauma center and is supported by a separate agency that handles all convalescent transports. Working 12-hour shifts, our medics can enjoy their time off hiking, biking, and enjoying all the activities that the mountains of Western North Carolina have to offer. Henderson County is accepting applications for Auxiliary paramedic positions with Emergency Medical Services. Must have a current North Carolina Paramedic certification or be certified at the EMT or Advanced EMT level and obtain paramedic certification by June 30, 2024. Testing is required and includes written, practical, and physical ability testing. Previous emergency medical service is preferred. Pre-employment screenings required for all finalist applicants.

Starting Salaries

  • Paramedic I – Starting at $29.00 (4 % increase after orientation)
  • Advanced EMT - $26.85
  • Emergency Medical Technician - $25.82

 

Hiring salary will be determined based on qualifications and internal equity.
